Best Dishwashers 2012
84Washing dishes is a boring chore and if you have a large family it can be a real pain. A good dishwasher is a quick and easy to use solution to the problem. In recent years the price of dishwashers have fallen greatly, also they have become more efficient and less noisy. For these reasons dishwashers have become quite common in middle class homes.
When buying a dishwasher you have to decide between the stainless steel and the normal type. The stainless steel ones are more durable, but also more expensive.
If you are using the dishwasher for a large family or for a business, you will need a larger more expensive one. If it's just you, a smaller cheaper one will do.
In best dishwasher 2012 we will have a quick look at some of the best new dishwashers on the market.
Whirlpool DU1030XTXS Full Console Dishwasher
This Whirlpool dishwasher is ideal for positioning under a kitchen worktop. It comes with five automatic cycles and looks clean with it's stainless steel design.
The Whirlpool DU1030XTXS is relatively quiet and takes very little time in heating the water. Be careful when opening it directly after use as the steam can burn you. The dishes are also very warm after use, it might be a good idea to give them some time to cool before emptying this dishwasher.
The Whirlpool DU1030XTXS cleans dishes very well but the top rack could have been designed a bit better. As it is it is not too good for large cups or glasses, but the bottom rack is adequate. It comes with a hard food disposer giving you much better results.
Overall I am impressed by this dishwasher's features. It cleans well, is not too noisy, and is even well designed.
KitchenAid Architect Series II - Stainless Steel
This dishwasher is a lot more expensive than others on the market, but it is a quality machine that almost justifies the price.
For cleaning it has 36 sprays which can target tough grime. This means you get a good overall clean with less marks left on your dishes.
They say it uses up to 25% less energy than others and there is next to no noise from it either.
The racks are very strong and able to hold a good number of dishes. The Architect Series IIĀ can easily handle pots and dishes at the same time and gives an excellent overall clean. The racks are also easy to move so you can place bigger items in the machine. It does mean you can get more done and it does not take too long to go through the cycle.
It might be expensive, but if you are a heavy user then this is ideal. The Architect Series II is strong and does its job very well. It should last you a while.
Haier HDC1804TW 4-Place-Setting Tabletop Dishwasher
If you have a kitchen with very little space, especially under counter tops, then this is the ideal dishwasher for you. Considering the size of it I am surprised at how much it can hold. However you will find it is trial and error in finding out how to get the most in.
The bottom rack can easily be removed and the spray arm is stainless steel, so don't think because it is smaller it will not last as long as the bigger machines. A normal cycle is 90 minutes long, which is just fine when you are not in a rush.
The best settings are the middle and higher settings as the lower can have a bit of a problem with more stubborn grime.
You are probably better of with the gel detergent, rather than powder, due to some issues with residue. Although it might have been due to the make of powder I used.
For a couple or a single person I would say that the Haier HDC1804TW can easily do the job for you.
GE 24 inch White Built-In Dishwasher
This is a bit more than your run of the mill white kitchen dishwasher. It has a self cleaning system which does the job and it is energy efficient. It uses less water to clean so that helps in reducing your utility bill. Although it uses less water, it still does a good enough job.
It is not too noisy and it preheats the water before it goes onto the main wash. I think that this gives a more constant level of cleanliness.
The GE dishwasher comes equipped with a Piranha hard food disposer. This means it grinds down food into smaller particles, which are then washed away. You find that this gives a better overall clean with stains being removed.
The GE dishwasher's heated air dryer finishes the job quickly so it can complete the job quicker than a lot of others. It also has a special silverware basket. The spacing in the racks allow for a good circulation of water and air during the process.
One neat trick is it can be used to gently warm plates before serving.
The GE dishwasher is not too expensive compared to others out there.
