Best HP Laptop 2016

Updated on November 8, 2015

Hewlett-Packard make excellent laptops. They have stayed at the top of a very competitive market by constantly improving their products and the post purchase service they give their customers.

In best HP laptop 2016 we review 4 laptops. One huge 17 inch top end HP laptop; 2, 15 inch laptops with very different features and one very portable mini laptop or netbook. These are all great laptops, the question is which one is best for your needs.

In picking a laptop you should always keep in mind what you will be using the laptop for.

HP Pavilion dv7-3165dx 17.3" Notebook PC

The HP Pavilion DV7-3165DX notebook PC features:

  • 2.5GHz AMD Turion dual-core processor
  • 4GB DDR2 memory, expandable to 8GB
  • 500GB hard drive
  • Blu-ray and DVD R/W optical drive
  • ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4200 graphics
  • Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit OS
  • 17.3” diagonal LED screen
  • Weighs 7.8 pounds

This laptop is fast enough for most gamers, although some serious power users may find it slows when running too many demanding applications simultaneously. This might be due to the 4GB memory; consider upgrading to 8GB.

The HDMI port, coupled with the Blu-Ray/DVD, supports watching movies on television.

You may find the numeric keypad to be surprisingly useful.

It is on the heavy side, but it is a large laptop. Also consider that it will need a larger-than-average carrying case.

Some other reviewers had problems with the battery. An extended warranty may be a wise choice to ensure the battery survives. Despite some complaints about the speakers, they seem quite adequate for a notebook PC.

HP Pavilion DV6-2162NR 15.6-Inch

The HP Pavilion DV6-2162NR notebook PC features:

  • 2.26GHz Intel Core i3-360M dual-core processor
  • 4GB DDR3 memory, expandable to 8GB
  • 500GB hard drive
  • 8X DVD R/W optical drive
  • Intel HD graphics
  • Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit OS
  • 15.6” diagonal LED screen
  • 1.4” depth
  • Weighs 6.4 pounds

This laptop is a very capable media processor and entertainment computer.  With a mobile remote, one may use the HDMI connector for AV presentations.

Gamers should find this PC more than adequate.

The numeric keypad is remarkably helpful for number-crunchers.  As well, the video quality is very good.

The choice between the DV7-3165DX and the DV6-2162NR is tough.  Is the larger screen worth the higher price?  Would expanding the memory to 8GB raise the performance enough to justify the increased cost?  Decisions, decisions…but enjoyable decisions.

The expected battery life is about 3.5 hours on a single charge.

HP G60-630US 15.6-Inch Laptop

The HP G60-630US notebook PC features:

  • 2.2GHz Intel T4400 dual-core processor
  • 3GB DDR2 memory, expandable to 4GB
  • 320GB hard drive
  • 8X DVD R/W optical drive
  • Intel 4500M graphics media accelerator card
  • Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit OS
  • 15.6” diagonal LED screen
  • 1.4” depth
  • Weighs 6.6 pounds

This laptop is well suited to playing media and moderate business computing tasks. The HDMI port allows it to play through to a high-definition television.

It is definitely less powerful than the DV7-3165DX and DV6-2162NR laptops reviewed in this article. However, the price is much lower – just over half that of the DV7-3165DX.

The expected battery life is over 3.5 hours per charge.

HP Mini 210-2070NR 10.1-Inch Netbook

The HP Mini 210-2070NR netbook PC features:

  • 1.66GHz Intel Atom N455 processor
  • 1GB DDR2 memory
  • 250GB hard drive
  • 8X DVD R/W optical drive
  • Intel 3150 graphics media accelerator card
  • Windows 7 Starter OS
  • 10.1” diagonal WSVGA LED screen, at 1074 X 600
  • 1.6” depth
  • Weighs 3.1 pounds

This netbook obviously has the lowest specifications of the computers reviewed in this article. It has the slowest processor, the smallest memory and hard drive, and lowest screen resolution (which may not matter too much, since it also has the smallest screen).

Perhaps the major difference is that is has Windows 7 Starter installed, not Windows 7 Premium.

Now that we have that out of the way, let’s consider the positives.

This is the smallest and lightest computer in this article, with the longest expected battery life of about 10.75 hours after being fully charged. (The battery is interesting: it seems too large for the rest of the unit; but provides an ergonomic tilt to the keyboard. This is a classic “bug or feature?” question to which each user will find a different answer). Being lightest, it is the easiest to carry.

It is perfectly capable of displaying videos, surfing the web, and running basic software.

The keyboard is surprisingly large for a netbook and has good “feel”.

It is possible to upgrade to 2GB memory, and to Windows 7 Professional (for example).

If your bottom line is the bottom line, then this is a surprisingly good netbook PC and may represent real value. It is not likely to become your one-and-only computer, but it is very portable and very capable.

Hopefully you found what you where looking for in best HP laptop 2016. Best Toshiba laptop 2016 is also well worth reading.
