Best Microwaves 2016

Updated on November 8, 2015

Cooking has become much simpler with the invention of the microwave. I really like using it in summer, so the oven doesn't heat up the whole house.

Microwave ovens can be divided into 2 groups: the large, powerful 1,200 Watt microwaves and the small, cheap 800 Watt microwave ovens. In best microwaves 2016 we have reviewed some of the best selling microwaves from the different categories.

Panasonic NN-SD997S Prestige 2.2 Cu-Foot 1250 Watt Microwave, Stainless Steel

Panasonic has really done a good job in designing this microwave. The first thing that you notice about it, is the size. The huge inside of the microwave enables you to cook a large dish in one go. The other very noticeable feature of the Panasonic is the well designed front panel. The dial and simple buttons makes the product easy to use. The microwave comes with a great many options and settings, however the design of the front panel is such that the whole thing looks uncluttered. The front panel is made from a fingerprint resistant material that cleans easily, this makes the Panasonic microwave a very clean neat product.

This microwave uses Panasonic's new inverter technology. This ensures that the food is evenly cooked. So a plate of food heated in this oven will not have any cold or hot spots. The microwave has a sensor that measures the steam coming out of the food, that makes it harder to overcook your food.

The whole product is very sturdy and built to last. The turntable mechanism used in the oven is very strong. This means that smooth inner rotation is ensured even when the load inside is unevenly distributed.

All in all it is a very good product that is designed for long term use.

Panasonic NN-H765WF Full-Size 1-3/5-Cubic-Foot 1250-Watt Microwave Oven

This model is similar to the previous one except that it's not made from stainless steel so it's much cheaper. The precisely structured well ordered front panel improves ease of use. The design is simple and trendy. The inside of the oven is quite spacious, this makes cooking larger dishes simpler. Another very noticeable feature of the design is the low noise levels. This makes the package very attractive for those who like to use microwaves without disturbing the people around them.

This microwave also uses inverter technology to ensures even cooking. The technology makes the defrost function, of the microwave more reliable. With it you can easily defrost without cooking. The power down setting is another excellent feature of the oven. This setting produces a constant low power output during cooking. This is great while cooking heat sensitive dishes to just the right temperature. For instance when you want to soften butter without melting it. The microwave also has an internal heat sensor to help you cook more consistently great dishes.

In short this product is well designed with the right balance of functionality and cost.

Sharp R-230KW 800-Watt 4/5-Cubic-Foot Compact Microwave

This microwave is geared more towards light use. That means it is not on par with the more spacious and powerful products we reviewed earlier. Because it is not designed for heavy duty use anyway, any such comparison would be unfair. The price of the product makes it an ideal choice for the more cost conscious consumer. This is also suitable for users who do not use microwaves frequently. For such users investing in a feature rich, microwave with a high price tag would be a waste. Purchasing this product for doing simple reheating and cooking is a viable choice.

Although not designed for long term use, the outlook is very well designed. It comes with pretty decent basic features. Also the automatic settings make the use a lot easier. The keypad is very structured and well thought out. The LCD display is also easy to read.

Overall a good product for the price.

Haier MWM0701TB Compact 2/3-Cubic-Foot 700-Watt Microwave Oven, Black

The Haier is very good at addressing 2 very specific needs. The first of these would be price. This microwave is very low cost and this makes it an ideal choice for students or anyone with budget restrictions. The other need that this product satisfies is that of limited space. This is a compact device, designed for small spaces. So for people with limited space this will be a better choice.

The microwave has a decent set of pre-programmed functions. In fact the microwave comes equipped with 9 instant cook pads. The 700 watts of total cooking power enables you to perform most of the normal tasks. It also has 10 power levels. This provides you with better control over cooking. The lighter weight of the product also increases its portability. The design of the microwave is clutter free. This ensure that the microwave is easy to clean. The LCD display is a good size making it easy to read.

An excellent product for those who do not need a high priced heavy duty microwave.
